At Rob Cary Pet Resort, the highest principles in pet care are the foundation of our business. Your pets are in the hands of professionals, some of whom are on-premise, resident caretakers. Situated on 3.9 acres in north central San Antonio, Rob Cary is a unique operation of its kind in the country. Owned and operated by the same family who founded the facility in 1976, the modern, 40,000 sq. ft. facility features central air conditioning and heating, and piped-in music for the interior pet suites. The complex includes accommodations for dogs, cats and birds, with grooming areas, professional training facilities and a retail shop.

We pride ourselves on our clean, safe pet boarding environment and meticulous attention to your pet and their needs. We provide bedding, central heat and air & a selection of premium foods for boarding pets. Fromm Classic and Fromm Gold are our preferred in-house foods for our feline and canine guests.

Please follow the links on the right for a tour or come by in person Monday thru Friday between the hours of 1pm to 7pm and one of our friendly customer service staff members will be happy to give you an informal tour (holiday seasons excluded). During Holidays we are unable to do tours as our staff is busy caring for our boarding pets. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail us or call us.

Let us take care of your pets while you are away! Each and every Rob Cary employee is dedicated to providing your companion animal with the best possible care day and night. Our pet boarding facilities in San Antonio are second to none in the nation and our staff is comprised of lovers of animals of every kind. We ensure that your best friend is treated as we would treat our own pets – with great care, attention and respect.

Pet boarding charges begin on the day of drop off regardless of time. There is always a full day charge when picking up on Sunday. Please note this … if you drop off your pet on a Saturday and pick up on Sunday it is a 2 day charge. There is no charge for departure day Mon-Sat if you pick up by 12:00 noon. Late departure of 2:00pm without charge if your pet is being bathed or groomed at check out Mon-Sat. Check in times should be NO LATER than one hour before closing. Pets should be checked out at least half an hour before we close. Advance reservations for all holidays and for weekends are advised. Deposit required for major holidays. We are always full for the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, be sure to make reservations early.

Pet Daycare San Antonio

Long days at work? Having work done at your house? Fence knocked down? Throwing a party? Or would you like to let your dog check out our environment? Doggie Day Care is Monday through Friday during regular resort hours, except on holidays. We welcome puppies 9 weeks old and older. Your dog stays in your choice of accommodations. Our regular Doggie Day Care rate includes a discounted boarding rate, free playtime, meals and treats. Your pet must meet all standard boarding requirements.

Lap Of Luxury Suites*

A dog’s life! Your best friend can lounge on a sofa or stretch on temperature controlled floors while they watch TV, enjoy piped-in music or chat with you on the speaker phone. They have covered patios, some with wading pools. Daily playtime sessions and gourmet snacks are included in the rate.

Royal Canine Suites*

Especially for bigger dogs, our Royal Canine Suites are a huge hit. With heated indoor floors, piped-in music, central air/heat, Kuranda beds and large covered patios.

Best Pet*

This is an ideal section for dogs of almost any size. The inside measures 4.5′ x 5′ with privacy walls (4′ tall) to keep the comfort level as high as possible. The 4.5′ wide outer section also offers a smaller privacy wall (2′ high) spanning its entire 13′ length; this is especially helpful for the little guys who require a more peaceful environment. The outdoor portion of the suite is fully covered and shaded, the inside has heated floors, piped in music, central air/heat and a Kuranda bed for extra comfort. Each run is completely closed in with tightly woven chain link fencing and padlocked on the exterior gate for protection. There are lots of windows for natural sunlight, creating a cheerful and healthy environment.

Feline Luxury Suites

A private room in our penthouse provides a quiet haven for our Feline Luxury Suites. This is truly the place for pampered kitties away from home. Each cat in this area receives a complimentary daily playtime along with superior boarding accommodations complete with: 3 level suite, cat tent, scratching post and television set showing bird and fish videos. Each Feline Luxury Suite features either a window outlook or comes with a fish tank for visual stimulation. And of course, music is provided for relaxation. Tasty gourmet treats are given twice daily.

Cat Chateau

If you have to go away and kitty needs somewhere safe and cozy, then this is the right place. All of our feline friends that come to board have fleece covered perches for viewing and cat-napping. Litter boxes are scooped twice daily and our feline guests are fed up to 3 times a day as per your instructions. Music is piped in for relaxation, and we have an evening treat time for all cats not receiving specialized diets. If you have a multiple cat family and require larger boarding accommodations, cat suites are expandable for an additional fee.

Professional, dedicated instructors teach all of our classes, which are held in our two indoor, climate controlled training facilities, except for agility classes, which are held outdoors. We limit class size so every dog and handler receives the maximum benefits from the training sessions. To guarantee placement, you must register in advance with payment. All new students must register in person at Rob Cary®. Sorry, no exceptions.

Kindergarten Puppy Training (KPT)* 6 week course 

For puppies 9 weeks to 4 months of age. This is the ideal age to train your puppy in the basics. Classes cover: Socializing Your Pup, Basic Health Care, Grooming, Potty Training, Lead Training, Sit, Down and Come When Called. Also Basic Manners: Not to jump on you, stop biting/mouthing you, and to wait at doors and gates. Fun exercises include retrieving toys and stick jumping. This class is specifically designed for young puppies and WOW! is it fun! 

Kindergarten Puppy Training II (KPT II)* 6-week course

For puppies 4 to 8 months of age. Those who completed KPT receive a $10 discount. KPT II incorporates positive, effective training for puppies during this critical and challenging stage (for puppies, this is the Terrible Two’s). Classes combine fun with more difficult training appropriate for this age, including how to interact properly with other dogs and people. 

Basic Obedience,* 6 week course

For dogs 7 months and older. Those who completed KPT or KPT II receive a $10 discount. Learn to teach your dog Basic Obedience Commands: Walking On Lead, Sit-Stays, Down-Stays and Come When Called. Basic Manners: Not to jump on you, to wait at doors and gates, and to walk on a loose lead. Also covered: Basic Health Care, Nutrition and Grooming. 

Advanced Classes

Next-Step Obedience* 6-Week Course 

For dogs one year of age and older. Further your obedience training and relationship with your dog. Exercises covered: Stationary Attention, Attention During Leash Walking, Stays, Finishes and Stand For Exam.

Ring Manners – Monthly Course

Dogs of all ages are eligible. In on-going classes, dogs and their handlers learn proper ring procedures and rules for conformation showing. Includes: Gaiting, Baiting, Stacking and Handling Techniques. Private lessons are also available.

Agility Classes (held outdoors)

Introduction to Agility* 6-week course

For dogs 7 months and older. Handlers and their dogs are introduced to the agility equipment. This class is the foundation for successful, enjoyable agility training.

Intermediate Agility* 6-week course

Students and their dogs will advance to this class based on the instructor’s recommendation. This class will teach skills on agility obstacles and begin handling skills; this includes sending and calling to obstacles and starting crosses.

Agility Obstacles* 6-week course

Students and their dogs will advance to this class based on the instructor’s recommendation. This class will teach handling skills and course management preparing you and your dog for competition.

Agility Sequencing* 6-week course

Students and their dogs will advance to this class based on the instructor’s recommendation. This class is for students who are competing or ready to compete. You will learn advance handling skills, course management and all aspects of agility.

Pet Grooming San Antonio

We offer a full range of pet grooming services here at Rob Cary. There are several skilled individuals responsible for giving your pet a makeover when it’s time. Keith is our grooming manager and has been with us since 1989. Keith can answer almost any question you might have regarding your pet’s appearance.

Each pet bathed experiences our Hydro-Surge Massage Bathing System, a real “feel good” treat; especially for an older pet who might be a little stiff. We use only the finest shampoos and coat conditioners from top manufacturers and can help you choose home grooming products for your pet to keep them looking good until their next visit.

Have a dog with super sensitive skin or allergies? Our Pet Silk Oatmeal or Tea Tree Bath is just the trick to calm sensitive or itchy skin. For dry or damaged coats we can give your pet a soothing hot oil treatment and/or a shampoo and conditioning with our Pet Silk products (with real silk protein). Fido looking faded out? We can help with our color enhancing shampoo treatments for white, black, red or gold coats. Fleas a problem? Let us debug your dog or cat, then help you choose an appropriate flea/tick preventive for ongoing care both on your pet and in and around your home.
